New Wave/New Look/whatever you wish to call it never ever was so wonderful as it was in Diva. So enter your Cool Period and ride some roller skates around your loft.

Death Becomes Me

I have the flu. I have not gotten out of the sweat pants plus t-shirt combo for two days. Also my hair is a mess. I feel terrible and I just read that Chanel is making a Segway scooter. There is a shop downtown that rents Segways. I wonder if they will have the Chanel version? All I know is that this is making me question my existence. Did you know that they are remaking The Never Ending Story? First Escape to Witch Mountain and now this. The world is entering a terrible and unfortunate age. Or maybe not. All I know is that these things are happening and someone else got the Stella McCartney for LeSport Sac bag that I wanted from Gilt Group.
Pretty black dresses to wear to the funeral of the world as we know it:
When you are attending the funeral for an idea, not something tangible, it is thoroughly appropriate to look sexy. You should not wear a one shouldered dress to your step father's funeral but who the hell cares when it is something that did not really exist. Unless you just read Slaughterhouse 5 and you are not sad about his death because, you know, he is alive in the past and right now? That body is just not really in a good state. But I doubt Serena reads. Also this dress does not show enough cleavage for our flaxen haired friend. RM by Roland Mouret sleeveless black dress, $2,180
Did you know that it was Mardi Gras this week? That somehow or other slipped by me. Probably becuase that was the day that I fell ill. I looked good too (90s Prada shoes, wool tights, striped shirt dress, vintage waist belt, and a purple J. Crew cardigan). Once again, the perfect party dress for the end of the world as we know it. Why is everything suddenly so apocolyptic? Why must pop culture decide to ruin everything that I love and know? Will March 16 ever come? Charlotte Ronson Audrey dress, $246
Helmut Lang dresses have a habit of bringing out the vaugely slutty and curvaceous side of me. I know I would end up wearing this dress with my suede platform heels and my faux leather jacket and be righteously mean to everyone. It is no matter though, because I love this dress. $345

Loving Isn't Easy

The September Issue is set to air sometime this year on A&E and now Anna Wintour is going to be on 60 Minutes. All of this television exposure is no doubt a reaction to Elle's success. And it's making me extraordinarily happy!

Oh goodness, my local radio station is playing The Virgins. Way to finally jump on the bandwagon!

I Will Kill Our Cleaning Ladies for Hiding my Allergy Meds

Every time that I get a paycheck I update my Net-a-Porter wish list because...why not? Here are some favorites that I think everyone should have. Or you know, drool over.
If there was a Party Girl remake Mary would wear this during her days at the library. With Christian Louboutin Rodita platforms, of course. And there would be sly jokes about The City that only freaks like me would get (did you watch The City? It was unrealistic and insane but it made me miss New York like no other, thank God I'm going back in the fall). Fendi silk crepe de Chine dress, $2,020
Mint green and short sounds kind of...insane. But I've always been attracted to the nutcases of this world. If I were on top of my game I'd quote Jack Kerouac right here but I've spent the better part of my day watching reality television and I like the moronic streak that I'm going on today. Besides, tomorrow I'll be legally an adult and I'd rather hold onto my childlike stupidity for as long as I can. Green is an appropriate color to wear when suffering from Peter Pan Syndrome. 3.1 Phillip Lim mini dress, $295
These are adorable and I love them but, I believe in hard living (okay I just always wind up taking photographs of graffiti in various dirty alleys) and they would wind up black after 2 days of being worn. Satin and I love each other very much, but it will never work out. Maloles satin flats, $290

Short, pleated, ruffles, it's fun! It's Marc by Marc Jacobs, what more could I ask for? Marc georgette dress, $360

You Think Too Much

The holidays sure are fun. I love presents and food and good company (and The Peanuts Christmas soundtrack). But halfway through Christmas break I always find myself waking up in the middle of the night as I am reminded of the various embarrassing things I had done from sheer boredom. Seriously, not having something to do makes me go nutty. So here are various things to wash the shame away. Until New Years Eve, at least.
Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap is the best out there. I have very sensitive skin but this stuff does wonders for it. Plus the bottle is excellent shower reading. You know, in case you are like me and take showeres at 3 AM for God knows why (okay, it's just because my hair takes 3 hours to dry and I'd rather not wake up at 6 AM every day) and need something to stay awake. It smells nice too. 32. 0z bottle of peppermint soap, $14.99
Let's say your legs are covered with bruises because you are basically a fool? Instead of hiding your legs in shame, (you are no battered woman, darling) why not show off those legs? Olay Body Quench has shimmery gold things in it that make your legs shine like the golden beacons of hope that they are. So what if you look you joined a Fight Club, you still look fabulous. $9.99
Generally when one of my friend's has a problem I suggest a classic movie. Your boyfriend cheated on you? Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. You're really happy about life but all of your friends are sour pusses? Clueless (okay, not your average person's classic but that movie is timeless. Sort of). And if you are feeling like the "top banana in the shock department"? Breakfast at Tiffany's. You can go around calling every one darling and saying silly things and just say, "Sorry darling, I'm in a Holly Golightly mood." $11.49
